Over-development in Baltimore County is simply out of control. It is a direct cause of school overcrowding and congested roadways. It also is a big contributing factor to the crime issues we are experiencing in our communities.
We need real community plans in our district to ensure that we have the adequate infrastructure in place before any construction occurs.
As your Councilman I will:
1. Work with the Baltimore County Planning Department to update our long-term community plans and ensure that we stick to them. This long-term plan needs to guarantee that we have the proper amounts of schools and road capacity before development. This plan should take in to account what the community really needs and not what politically connected developers want and need.
2. Push for a discussion on the merits of implementing a system of impact fees in Baltimore County that would help fund the cost of critical infrastructure improvements such as roads and schools. These fees would be proportional to the size of development a developer is building.
3. Actively engage the community on these important issues. This includes holding town halls, going door to door, and making myself available for your input.
4. Stop the process of bending to the will of politically-connected donors. I will not prioritize corporate welfare over the needs of our community. We have had enough of multi-million dollar handouts to wealthy campaign contributors.
